Don't look cute- for the boys sake!

The other day at work I was called into the office (dun dun dun!) for quite a few dumb things (what else is new, right?). But this time, this time really tops it off. Now, as many of you know I work at Petsmart in the Salon. Right now I am working at the Petsmart in OK City for training. But anywho, our uniforms consist of these water proof black pants, black shoes, and this short sleeved zip up shirt we call a "smock". Does is matter what we wear underneath? No. We can go commando for all they care. But apparently, some "anonymous" dude that works at the same Petsmart as me at the moment saw me take my smock off at lunch, and well, was a little to "distracted" by my oh so "revealing" top. It distracted him SO much, that he had to complain to the manager (who is also of the male origin I might add) and asked him to ask me to wear less "revealing" tops. Now, I'm sure you are wondering what the big deal was? Just how revealing was this top that Alyssa the immodest girl was trying to distract the boys with? Just scroll down. Yeah. Yeah! That's the top. The exact one. With my baggy slushy pants slushing down the aisles of dog bones and flea shampoo- how could that not turn any man on and distract him from stocking the last cans of dog food on that top shelf? The worst part is that the Manager AGREED! Does it matter that all the guys walk around on their brakes with these tacky super tight white tank tops in half uniform? No. Does it matter that the over weight (not that I am dissing over weight women...I like a girl with meat just as much as the next meat loving girl) women in my salon walk around on their brakes with tank tops and their boobs half way hanging out of their tops? No. That's no distraction. Not at all. But Alyssa wearing a casual 3/4 sleeve- non cleavage revealing (not like I have any)- non mid drift showing top- watch out ladies and gentleman! Alyssa Priest just clocked in and she's on the prowl for some male attention!

Seriously, things like this happen every day. That manager should have told that guy to get some serious sexual therapy. Instead- I got a warning. Yay me. I don't mind never wearing that shirt again to work. No big deal. But the fact that my Manager told me that I was inappropriate and was not representing the store in a decent manner is just plain discrimination against skinny people. There. I said it. The men get away with tank tops, the big and/or older women get away with tiny tank tops. And I, the smallest (and youngest) girl in the store can't wear tops that look cute in general- regardless how much I am covering. Seriously, this is not the only instance this has happened. It's getting old and it needs to stop. The men out there who only see breasts when they look at a girl (whether she is covered or not) need help. Instead he is played at the VICTIM and the woman the PREDATOR. (wtf?)

When you hear someone saying something about how a girl is dressed (because YES, it will ALWAYS be a girl) call them out on it. Tell them that if it bothers them they need to (a) get some medical attention or (b) grow a brain. Either one should work well. And this goes for the ladies too! I've heard girls judge other girls choice of clothing (and again, it will always be GIRLS clothing, never guys) just as bad as the men. If not worse! Does it not seem odd that women are judged so much more harshly on what they wear than men? It's not. Speak up and don't let your peers think that calling a girl a slut or anything else due to her choice of wardrobe is okay. Men walk around topless in public for goodness sake.

And here we can observe Alyssa Priest CLEARLY trying to seduce this young man with her erotic top...yummy. This was the exact shirt I was wearing when this happened...see what I mean?

Seriously, people need to grow up. What do they expect girls to wear? Space suits?

yeah.... well you ARE hot and distracting. What's a man to do but complain about it. You are provoking desires that are distracting. That's what they fail to admit. Instead it sounds better for them to say your top is inappropriate. I would take it as a compliment. If your insides are as beautiful your outsides, jeez, look out world!!!

Thanks for the last sentence, but I am in no way provoking desires that are distracting.

Perhaps I should have said that you are UNINTENTIONALLY provoking desires that are distracting in this case. But you are provoking something whether you know it or not. If you weren't, why would they have made such a big deal about your top? I think you are so caught up with your self-righteousness you miss the point of what is actually happening. Yes they are singling you out. Why? Because you are hot and the others are not... and I think you know that. Is it fair? No. Life isn't fair. Perhaps the others, who are not singled out for wearing "inappropriate" work attire, think it's unfair that you are hotter than they are. I'm not taking sides... just calling it as I see it!

Alyssa,
It's John from San Bernardino. Remember me and Robin and Kaylin when you all lived in the apartments on Kendall Drive? Kaylin's been trying to find you for awhile but no luck. I was going thru some old postcards and found one that you and Kaylin gave me for my birthday, so I typed your name in Google and found a couple of "Alyssa Priest" sites. Remember that cat that you and Kaylin gave me? I still have it. Anyway, if you'd like to hook up with Kaylin email me at water.wiz@verizon.net of call me 909-886-4035.
